What happened to RefWorks?
You told us how much you loved Mendeley, and we heard you! Beginning fall quarter, The D'Azzo Research Library will officially transfer our support from RefWorks to Mendeley as our citation management software of choice.You can set up a new Mendeley account and port your references to Mendeley very easily.
If you're already using RefWorks, don't panic! The library will be offering flash classes to help ease your transition. Bring your lunch and get personalized assistance with porting your references from RefWorks to Mendeley, setting up Mendeley desktop, and installing the Word plugin. Flash classes will be offered every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from July 28th through August 13th at 1130, 1200 and 1230. No need to sign up - just drop by the library classroom as your schedule permits!
We anticipate seeing the Mendeley Desktop application rolled out to all AFIT computers by the end of July and classes will begin in August. Check back soon for the official class schedule.
Please be aware that our RefWorks contract will expire 30 Sept 2015. After this date, your RefWorks account will no longer be accessible so we encourage users to begin switching over as soon as possible. If you have questions about Mendeley or experience any issues with your migration, please contact us!
Troubleshooting the Mendeley Desktop application
Mendeley Desktop has already been pushed to all AFIT computers; however each computer must be restarted in order to access the program. If there’s no Mendeley icon on the desktop, check the start menu. If Mendeley Desktop does not appear in the start menu, you will need to restart your computer to complete the install.
Once you have opened the application, use your Mendeley Web ID and password to log in. If you experience a problem logging in, click on “connection settings” and check the box that says “Use system connection settings.” Close and reopen Mendeley Desktop and you should be able to log in.
What is Mendeley?
Mendeley is a citation management tool that, like many others, lets you collect & organize citations, & then easily insert them into documents & format bibliographies. But it also lets you drag & drop PDFs into your library & extracts the metadata to create a library!
You can highlight and annotate your PDFs and share them with others. Colleagues can then also annotate the same document, with each author displaying as a different color.
Use more than one computer? It's not a problem! Download Mendeley Desktop to as many computers as you want, then sync them with a click of your mouse. Need to use your library away from your computer? Mendeley Web gives you access to your citations no matter where you are.
Mendeley is social: create a profile, follow other researchers, create a network of people doing similar research. Discover the articles and journals that are being read in your field right now.
Create collections of papers. Make them public & share them with an RSS feed (great for class reading lists!).
At Mendeley Feedback, you can suggest changes to the program, see how many votes your idea has, & if Mendeley is going to use it.

Login to Mendeley
Citation management tools allow users to collect, organize and format citations for their thesis, dissertation, or any other research project. Services are web-based and/or available as desktop and mobile applications and may be accessed on or off-campus. This session will introduce users to Mendeley and provide hands-on demonstrations on gathering citations, organizing them and inserting them into a thesis or research paper.
